Truths about buddhist life and buddhism
Many do not understand buddhism or have just not heard much about it. Also a few other religions look down on buddhism as they themselves are ignorant to its true meaning and are closed minded to it.
Despite what they say you will not go to hell for simply being buddhist and the buddhists do not worship some heathen god who claims to be the true god. It's not even close to the truth. Buddhism has no gods to worship and isnt even a religion but a way of life. We firmly believe in god and accept others for simply being themselves and not for their beliefs. Buddhist life is a way of peace through compassion. Helping all those we can along the path that is our life. We tend to live humble lives and meditate often to help clear our own minds to better help others.
Many see buddha as being a god. But only those who do not know anything about buddhism think of a buddha as a god. the truth is there is no one buddha, but over 1000 of them. And each was a simple human being like yourselves.
Buddha means enlightened one and is a title given to those who reach the highest level of mental clarity and peace of mind. A buddha is someone who is nolonger attached to the posessions of life. There have been both male and female buddhas over the past few thousand years, and there are now many different sects of buddhism around the world.
Shaolin buddhism is of a sect known as ch'an buddhism, but with a little twist. Normally in buddhism, you are not to ever fight. Shaolin buddhism is a blend of ch'an buddhism and taoism, which allows us to protect those who can not protect themselves.
Buddhism was brought to shaolin about 1500 years ago by a man called Da Mo or Bodhidharma. A buddha himself. There are stories around that sugjest he is the one who founded shaolin martial arts, but this isnt at all true. He did contribute a little to shaolin life, along with buddhism he brought basic yoga and created a few qigong meditations based on the meditations the monks used in daily life. shaolin had been there for for 1500 years before Da Mo arived, so it is highly unlikely he gave birth to kung fu as the ledgends say.
I hope this helps shine some light on our ways and maybe even helps us make a few friends in the world. What is life without having friends to share it with? A very sad life i can honestly say.
